I’m looking forward to seeing Arrogate run against Midnight Storm on Sunday. Should be a good test for both of them. Honestly, I was stunned by the way Arrogate ran in the Travers last summer. The time was legit, but makes you wonder if that three-year old crop was particularly sub par, as they beat each other up all year. Watching TVG that day it seems that the word was out on Arrogate among the California crowd, though the PP’s didn’t seem to tip the performance to come. He clearly backed it up in the Breeders Cup win in a ding-donger with California Chrome. Seems like Bob Baffert is calling a bit of an audible in running Arrogate (perhaps after seeing Chrome shine at Los Al?), though 80 percent of him may be enough to get the job done. Midnight Storm’s front running dirt win was a pleasant surprise (as in, how dominant it was) so this should be a fun marking post to see where the big horse stands in heading into the Pegasus.
